Here’s what I got up to in the land of sun, sand and surf!
Location: Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort
As you can probably tell from the title, this past week, I travelled down to Kenya’s Coastal area; Mombasa. Lately I feel like I’m gradually turning into a bit of a ‘Captain Spontaneous’ and when my Mum offered me an on-the-spot oppo to travel to Bamburi for a week with her, I couldn’t help but pack a hurried few outfits before we both had a chance to think about it. All in all, Mombasa was wonderful to me.
I’ve never been there around this time of year and I must say, I was impressed by how moderate and cool the weather was. Since my mum was there for work, I found myself having a tonne of free time to just explore both the resort and it’s enchanting surroundings. I wandered over to the nearby Ziwa Beach Resort, a quirky, creatively crafted lodge that encapsulates the charming at-home-but-not-really experience and offers an impeccable view of the coast line. I also found myself taking my first tuk-tuk/tonga ride on a main road which was quite the experience. Finally, being me, I couldn’t stay away and took a trip to the nearby City Mall, found little nooks and crannies around the resort and -on a whim- even went jet skiing…
That said, Mombasa, you were good to me and I cannot wait to re-visit the city and find out what else the coast has to offer. As always, keep well and all my love,
