Birthday Dinner | 22 at The Hemingways Brasserie

“Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with things, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.”

In my attempt to survive a heat wave…

Christmas in Nairobi might as well be forecasted as a white christmas next year as last festive season, the peculiarly low temperatures made sure that I was bundled up either in a fluffy cardigan or in wellies and a raincoat. However, even that bipolar season could not be equated to the mind boggling heat waves we are currently experiencing this supposed ‘rainy season’.

img_224340 degrees has become the orders of the day, in areas that would have laughed at the thought of even 30 degrees in the summer and what’s worse is it is so humid, one can barely stay awake or keep from showering at least four times a day. Anyway, the point of this post was to encourage us all to keep positive even in these crazy(for lack of a more accurate synonym) times. This week, I have been trying to embrace this ‘double summer’ that the good Lord has decided to set loose on Nairobi. I’ve been drinking tonnes of water, packing my gym bag and escaping into simple exercise, and even doing simple things like basking in the sun and reading a book on the terrace while taking in just how peculiar nature can be. It’s been oddly refreshing, relaxing and most importantly rewarding once I tried to make it work for me, because Lord knows I would be crying and whining if the cold, rainy season that we all dread had come to pass. So instead of crying about how hot, sweaty or sleepy you are, why not think of all the things you would be craving while bundled up in your layers last rainy season?

Love always,
